New Zealand jumps to fourth in the ICC ODI Championship table as Australia extends its lead

New Zealand jumps to fourth place in the ICC ODI Championship after its 5-1 series victory against South Africa, its highest position since the introduction of the ICC ODI Championship table in 2002.

After entering the series on 102 points the comprehensive win against its higher ranked opponents has seen its rating climb to 109 (108.93) just 0.26 points behind third placed Sri Lanka (109.19).

Despite losing its series against Australia, Sri Lanka's two wins against the world's number one team have seen its rating improve from 107 to 109 moving it closer to second placed South Africa which has dropped from 119 to 113 following the New Zealand series.

This has seen Australia's lead at the top of the table widen to 22 point despite dropping 1 rating point after losing two games against lower ranked Sri Lanka.

The focus now moves to Pakistan and Zimbabwe. In Pakistan both the host country and India will have a great opportunity to move up the world ranking in this historic series starting on Saturday 13 March while in Zimbabwe the home nation will be looking for a win against Bangladesh, while the visitors will be looking to register their first points since the introduction of the table.
