Knock-out finals
Hagley Oval will host both finals of The Press 40-over, knock-out club cricket tournament on Sunday. Two Hagley-based clubs, defending champion Riccarton and St Albans, meet in the men's final while St Albans faces East-Shirley in the women's final. Both games start at noon.
Styris in limelight again
Scott Styris's remarkable run-getting feats continued, this time in partnership with Hamish Marshall, as Northern Districts beat the New Zealand Academy team in a one-day cricket match at Queen Elizabeth II Park. Styris followed his unbeaten 156 in the previous two-day game with 69 not out yesterday as he shared a 172-run unbroken stand for the fifth wicket with Marshall. It came at run-a-ball pace with Marshall unbeaten on 83 from 93 balls while Styris faced 81 balls.
Short scoreboard:
New Zealand Academy 223-8 (L Vincent 58, M Jefferson 52; J Yovich 3-39, M Hart 3-24) lost to Northern Districts 226-4 (H Marshall 83no, S Styris 69no).
