The early monsoon rains continue to fall in Dhaka and look certain to disrpupt the forthcoming Asia Cup. Speaking to CricInfo a few moments ago Dave Whatmore said: " There was a massive downpour last night and early this morning. I have just been down to the ground. It must be under at least a foot of water. I don't think there can be any play for at least three days."
The Sri Lankan team, having arrived on Thursday, have not yet practiced outdoors and have been confined to the indoor gym.
The BBC weather forcast for Dhaka predicts sunshine over the weekend. However it may well be too late to save this tournament.
On Thursday BCB President Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that the four-nation tournament had originally been scheduled for late last year but was changed because of the international commitments of India and Pakistan.
There have been rumours that the Cup may be relocated to Bangalore, however this would appear to be extremely unlikely when one considers the daunting logistics of such a move.
