Scorecard
Nepal's bowlers hit back towards the end of the rain-affected opening day of their Intercontinental Cup match against Malaysia at Katmandu. After Rakesh Madhaven and Rohan M Selvaratnam had given their side a solid start, Malaysia lost six wickets for 61 runs to close on 131 for 6.
Play did not start until 1.30pm due to heavy rain, meaning only 51 overs were possible. The opening pair put on 67 together. Madhaven scored a brisk 42 off 61 balls, including eight fours, and Selvaratnam scored 56, with seven boundaries. At that stage, Malaysia, having won the toss, were in a strong position.
However, Sanjam Regmi led Nepal's comeback, taking 3 for 25 to spoil Malaysia's bright start. After Parash Khadka got things going with the scalp of Madhaven, Sanjam nipped out three more batsmen before the close. He removed Suriaprakash, Matthew Williams and Suresh Navaratnam - all caught - to leave Rohan V. Suppian and Muniandy Marimathu holding things together for Malaysia at stumps.
