President's Counsel Daya Perera, former senior vice president of the Sinhalese Sports Club, was unanimously elected as the President of the SSC at the Annual General Meeting held at the club premises recently.

Two penetrative spells by Priyankara Wickremasinghe (5 for 66) and Pulasthi Gunaratne (4 for 46) enabled Blooomfield to bowl out SSC for a hopeless 193 in their Cricket Board Inter-club Premier League three-day match which began at Reid Avenue yesterday. Bloomfield in reply were strongly placed at 135 for one at close.

Sinha Sports Club taking first lease of the wicket were 198 for 5 at close in their Cricket Board Inter-club Premier League match against Police SC which got underway at Police Park yesterday.

NCC in reply to CCC's 241 all out were 53 for 3 at close on the opening day of their Cricket Board Inter-club Premier League three day match commenced at the CCC Grounds, Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Sebastianites were well placed to obtain a first innings lead when they scored 96 for one in reply to Matara SC's 171 on the first day of the Premier championship match at Matara yesterday.

Maris Stella made 230 on the first day of their schools match against Isipatana played at Negombo yesterday. Isipatana in reply were 45 for 2 at close. The match continues today at 10 a.m.

Half centuries by Thushan Amrasuriya (84), Ravi Peiris (72) and Malinda Thotuwitage (51) helped Royal to make a healthy 249 for 6 declared in the opening day of their key inter-school cricket encounter which began at Reid Avenue yesterday. In reply, Nalanda were 40 for one wicket at close.

An unfinished 135-run opening stand between Johannes Jayasuriya (59 n.o.) and Ian Daniels (65 n.o.) helped St. Joseph's to gain the upper hand on day one of their inter-school cricket match against Wesley which began at Campbell Park yesterday.

Prince of Wales made a formidable 277 for 8 declared in their inter-school cricket match against Ananda which got underway at Moratuwa yesterday.

D. S. Senanayake MV, in reply to St. Sebastian's first innings total of 139 all out, were 70 for 2 at close on the first day of their inter-school cricket match which commenced at Moratuwa yesterday.

S. Thomas' made short work of St. Benedict's first innings by dismissing them for a paltry 90 runs and then batted tentatively to make a laboured 125 for 5 at the close in their inter-school cricket encounter which began at Mount Lavinia yesterday. S. Thomas' made good their decision to field first and found the Bens losing their wickets cheaply to be all out for 90 runs. Skipper and pacie Naren Ratwatte claimed three wickets for the Thomians. Thomians managed to get past the small score of 90 of St. Benedict's to be 125 for 5 made off 38 overs. The onus now rests with the Thomians and much will depend on what they do this morning.

Good bowling by off spinner Thushara Madanayake who captured 6 for 28 helped Kingswood College to restrict Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda to 108 all out in their inter-school cricket match which began at Peradeniya yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.

At close Kingswood had replied with 116 for 8 with Lasitha Ekanayake top scoring with 44.

Dharmasoka College: 108 all out in 44 overs (C. Sanjeewa 38, N. Zoysa 13, T. Madanayake 6 for 28, V. Seneviratne 2 for 18).

A captain's knock of 72 with 4 fours and a six by Kaushalya Weeraratne helped Trinity College to total 222 in their inter-school cricket match against St. Sylvester's College, Kandy which began at the Asgiriya Stadium yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.45 a.m.

Sloppy fielding by the Sylvestrians who grassed as many as six catches let the lions off the hook. Skipper Kaushalya Weeraratne himself survived a confident appeal for caught behind before he reached double figures.

Medium pacer Chanaka Wijesinghe better known for his batting prowess bowled best to capture 5 for 71. At close the Sylvestrians have replied with 33 for no loss.

Trinity College 222 all out in 80 overs (A. Imbuldeniya 16, K. Weeraratne 72, R. Gamage 12, R. Vanderkoon 18, I. Gammanpila 25, H. S. Samath 34, R. Dissanayake 2 for 50, C. Ratnayake 2 for 34, Chanaka Wijesinghe 5 for 71).

Two half centuries by Amila Illankoon (53) and Chanaka Samarakoon (64), for Sri Rahula College, Katugastota was the highlight of their inter-school cricket match against St. Mary's College, Kegalle which ended in a draw at Kegalle yesterday.

For the Marians T. Paranawithana top scored with 53 and also captured 3 for 25. Rahula all-rounder Seneviratne Bandara captured 3 for 59 and also scored 30 and 43 in the match.

Sri Rahula College 242 for 9 decl, 72.4 overs (Amila Illankoon 53, Chanaka Samarakoon 64, Gehan Mahakumbura 26, Seneviratne Bandara 30, M. Kumara 26, M. Samaraweera 3 for 26, T.
