Sri Lanka Tour To New Zealand
Sri Lanka national cricket pool will have four weeks of training
under their new coach Bruce Yardley before the forthcoming New
Zealand tour. Former Western Australia and Australian Test offspinner Yardley is due to arrive in Colombo on January 20 on a
two-year contract.
He will straight away take charge of the national pool and have a
month long stint with them before the team leaves for New Zealand
on February 25. The national pool which was named early this
month and the final 16-member team is expected to be named by
early February.
Sri Lanka will open their one-month tour of New Zealand with a
one day game against thee Northern District at Owen Delamcy Park
on February 27. Sri Lanka will play New Zealand `A` from March 2
to 4 at Harry Barker Reserve, Gibson, before playing the first
Test against New Zealand from March 7 at Carisbrook in Dunedin.
The second Test between the two countries will be played at
Trustbank Park in Hamilton from March 14. There will be no
rest days in both the Tests.
