Chris Tremlett is to miss England's tour of India following surgery to his right knee and hip. Tremlett was ruled out of England's tour of Pakistan in October, but had expected to be fit for the tour to India, which gets underway in February.
"Chris had the operations before Christmas and is making good progress," Tremlett's father, Tim - the director of cricket at Hampshire - told BBC Sport. "He was disappointed he wasn't able to go to Pakistan but it's important to get these injuries right."
He is now aiming to be fit for April, in time for the county season and for the coming international season: Pakistan and Sri Lanka both tour England in another tightly-packed summer's action.
"He's flying out at the end of next week to Australia, where our physio is based and a couple of our players are doing rehab," Tim added. "Chris will be joining them in Sydney and will now focus on getting fit and strong for the start of the new season."
