on the leg side, goes off the pad to the keeper and they scamper across for a single by the time the keeper gets to it and takes his glove off for the a throw to the bowler's end
Renegades vs Heat, 11th Match at Carrara, Dec 13 2021, Big Bash League
Heat won by 5 wickets (with 19 balls remaining)
9.22pm Heat get off the bottom of the table, and that position is now taken by Renegades, who had finished there last season, and their next game is against the so-far unbeaten Perth Scorchers. That's all we have for tonight, from me, Vishal Dikshit, and PDP. It's Hurricanes vs Scorchers tomorrow, do join us for that and all the other Ashes content for the Adelaide day-night Test. Until then, it's goodbye from us. Ciao!
James Bazley is the Player of the Match: Nice to get our first win. We started nicely, kept it simple under nice conditions. Quite early (his slower balls) and that was our planning as well, that works, bowl fast and get those slower balls. Understanding my game, sticking to my process, working hard and being resilient works for me.
9.14pm Brisbane Heat get off the mark with their first win and they've done it convincingly with over three overs to spare. There was a bit of a stutter along the way in the chase but some lusty blows from Heazlett and Bazley, and seeing off Zahir Khan in the end made it easy. Renegades were surely 20 or more runs short after only Harvey got thee runs for them. Their bowling stepped up a fair bit, but 140 wasn't going to be enough here. Sam Heazlett nicely leading the chase with his unbeaten 44.
short and outside off, pulls it with a swivel to deep square leg
hurries onto his pads at nearly 140kmh, deflects towards off and they sneak in a leg bye
boy, has he middled that this time! Muscled over long-on for six! Short and rising, but Bazley is tall enough to still get on top of it by standing still and bludgeon it over long-on
he hasn't middled that at all, it's a rising slower ball, he pulls it over the umpire and gets just about enough to beat both the straight fielders for four
Just 13 to go from 24. Topley comes back
13 from the over, this match is pretty much done now
bangs it in short over off stump, he waits and ramps it down to third man. A single keeps him on strike
121.8kmh, takes the pace off but it's pretty full and Heazlett drives it gently into the covers with perfect timing to pierce the gap between mid-off and cover
another swing and a miss outside off for the length ball that angles away
Under 20 now
quicker and wider outside off, he cuts and misses
smoked over midwicket, what a cracker! Rare poor ball from Richardson, Heazlett pivots on the back foot and gets right on top of it to dispatch it with disdain
outside off and he taps it away towards point for one
unnecessarily swings it high on the leg side on the last ball, and his luck! The skier has been dropped. What was the need for that shot with the required rate so low, but he goes after it, Maddinson is at the edge of the circle and turns around, gets under it, but makes a mess of it at midwicket
lunges forward and pushes the ball to midwicket
goes on the back foot and cuts it fiercely to sweeper cover
swipe-sweeps it with the turn and gets one to short fine leg quickly
flat and sliding in towards the stumps, he nudges it to leg off the back foot
Around the wicket to Heazlett
not a great ball, turning down leg from middle and easily worked to deep square leg off the pads
Nabi has two left, here he is
134.2kmh, ends the over with a short ball angling in and Bazley's top edge goes down to fine leg
123.4kmh, hangs back and punches this square to deep point
136kmh, rushes on to him as Bazley stays back again, and a thick edge runs down to third man
