full on leg, clips the pad and squirts to square leg to win the game, convincingly in the end
NSW vs Tasmania, at Sydney, Nov 15 2009 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Tasmania won by 6 wickets (with 24 balls remaining)
Bailey and Birt as always hold down the middle order for the Tigers, guiding them to a comfortable victory at North Sydney Oval.
The Blues just started too tentatively, only really saved by a big hitting effort from Steve Smith at number 7.
We've seen 21 sixes here today, always a great ground for ODD cricket. My call of 300 being a par score ended up being pretty close to the mark, The Blues I think knew they were 20 or 30 short of a competitive tota.
The Tigers weren't even forced to use all of their batting Powerplay. Travis Birt was again exciting and must be pushing towards Australian 20/20 or ODI selection. The more people that get to see him play the better
That's all from me, Andrew Fuss, good night.
flicked to square leg
catches pad as it goes down leg
full outside off, big outside edge to third man
bit short of a length, rocks back and smashes it over square leg
full outside off, smashed through cover
Batting Powerplay forced to be taken now, not that it should matter
great yorker, dug out to cover
bouncer, ducked under
pushed to point
full down leg, squirts off the pads to fine leg
good slower ball, pushed to square leg
full on middle, pushed to square leg
full on off, driven firmly to Katich at cover
drives outside off, doesn't connect
full on leg, flicked into the deep
punched through backward point
Bit of blood as the doctor looks at it, looks very painful
pushed to short third man, Birt backs up a long way so Smith pings at the stumps smashing into his finger as he tries to get back
That six brought up another ODD 50 for Travis Birt, his third for the season and not surprisingly, again at better than a run a ball
advances, doesn't quite get to the pitch of it but still smashes it over mid wicket
cut to backward point
