5.05pm: That's a wrap, folks. Only 16.3 overs of cricket in Antigua today - but no refunds, sorry. England will be more than happy with what they achieved in that small window, but the salvage operation isn't quite complete yet. For now, I'll point you in the direction of Andrew Miller's report, and remind you to set your clocks for the same time Saturday evening. Thanks for your comments, as always. From myself, Vish and Raghav, it's goodnight. Bye!

4.55pm: Time to hear from the captains, starting with Aqib Ilyas: "Nothing much to say, it was a big collapse. It was big exposure, but still there are positives. With Associate teams, we don't get to play bowlers who bowl at 140kph [often]. At the back of the mind, expecting a lot of pace, it is difficult. Some areas, the ball was there to hit, but they had fielders up in the ring. Batters didn't look uncomfortable but bad shot selection [cost us]. Hats off to them for putting pressure on the bowlers. They had to go for run rate. We have learned a lot, how we can get better. We competed in some areas. You learn where you stand, but we have to work hard."

And England's Jos Buttler: "Thought the tone was set by the bowlers, take early wickets and restrict them. Job done today, another game in two days' time. Bowled brilliantly, there was extra bounce. Topley with his height... I thought they bowled a good line and length. [Spin] Don't think anyone expected the wicket to play like it did, looked a really good surface. [Batting] Just looked to be positive, try to take advantage of the NRR. [Criticism] Been around long enough to know that people make comments. We know what's going on in the dressing room. We have another huge match to come. We can only control what we do, all focus is on that."

4.45pm: Quick and dirty does it for England. That was the cricketing equivalent of raiding Five Guys to satisfy a craving. Their net run rate has jumped into the positive, up to 3.08 - crucially already above Scotland's, with Namibia still to come. Win that one and they'll be back on track for the Super 8s (unless, of course, Scotland can roll Australia)

Adil Rashid is Player of the Match after his 4 for 11: "I thought we bowled exceptionally well, nice to bowl them out for 47. Always nice when you see your first one spin. When you get a wicket first ball it sets the tone. Some pitches are flatter, I try to adjust in the first over. It was spinning quite a bit, going wider with the wrong'un, sliders, set them up that way. Very happy today. One game at a time, we've got Namibia next, our job is to go out there and do our thing."

Fayyaz Butt to Bairstow, FOUR runs

short and swung away for the winning runs! Bairstow finishes with a strike rate of 400, England have got the job done in record time - and the World Cup defence is back on!

Fayyaz Butt on to bowl... but not for long

My colleague, Sampath Bandarupalli, has this: "Only other instance of first two legitimate balls of a men's T20I innings being sixes - by Spain against Isle of Man after a no-ball first-up while chasing 11 to win (where BBB is available)"

"If Scotland loses to Australia it'll automatically decrease their NRR. So there's no need to go all boom boom. But we don't mind either." Not if it's a tie and a Super Over, Sammy. But we quibble...

Bilal Khan to Buttler, FOUR runs

full, wide and slashed up and over, but bounces some way short of the cover boundary. So this chase is going to a fourth over!

One more of those would do it...

6
Bilal Khan to Buttler, SIX runs

banged in and blapped! Buttler goes up and over, with the wind out towards the longer boundary at deep midwicket. An 89m six, brings the target in sight

Tom: "Unfortunately Cricinfo commentary doesn't have variable font sizes to show the largeness of those two 'ifs' CharlieJ..."

"Why all the calculations to surpass Scot NRR now? If Scot beat Aus (or it is a no result) Eng are out so and if Eng lose to Nam (or if it is a no result) they are out So there are 2 matches to go to surpass NRR." But why hang around, CharlieJ? The quicker they get their NRR up, the better - and they'll surely not get a better opportunity than this

short and boshed! Pace off, I think, but Bairstow lumps it unceremoniously over cover point

Kaleemullah to Jacks, OUT

short and skied to point! England have come out in a frenzy of shot-making, and Oman bag another. Good bounce from Kaleemullah, the ball got big on Jacks as he looked to swat over the off side, only managed a big top edge to the man in the ring

...and defends his first ball! What's this nonsense? It was a good length, 127kph on off stump, very respectable, to be fair

W
Bilal Khan to Salt, OUT

much better length, flattens off stump! Salt's stay is brief, six-six-out. But that part of the ledger doesn't matter for England's pursuit of a healthy NRR bump. Skidding on from over the wicket as Salt swings across the line, gets a thin inside edge that takes the ball smack into the top of off

pitched up and clattered for six more! Pace off from Bilal, too full and room to swing the arms again. Salt obliges, dumping the ball over the covers again. He's getting 'em in sixes...

Bilal Khan to Salt, SIX runs

full and launched! I think England are going for it... Salt opens the shoulders and drills his first ball over the extra cover rope

Bilal Khan has the ball in hand. Slip in, two boundary riders leg side

Here come the England openers, Jos Buttler and Phil Salt. They rarely need licence to tee off, but you imagine there won't be many sighters here. Even Buttler might concede they've earned the right to think about NRR

4.20pm: Oh man. Well, we've all had a shocker at some point. That Oman innings last just 80 deliveries - now, if England can get this done in 32 (that is 5.2 overs), they'll pump their net run rate above that of Scotland, with another winnable game against Namibia to come on Saturday
