misses a full toss, straight on leg stump and Ojha, beaten by the pace, can't get his bat to it, timber!
MI vs Chargers, 33rd match at Mumbai, IPL, Apr 03 2010 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Mumbai notch up their seventh win of this IPL in comprehensive fashion. Deccan, hapless in their chase, slip to a fifth defeat which means they stay in seventh place. It was that stand between Rayudu and Tiwary that turned the tide in Mumbai's favour; the surge at the death got them to a competitive score, and the bowlers struck at frequent intervals to ensure Deccan came nowhere near. We'll get you the presentation details in a bit.
Gilchrist: "We dropped catches, Tiwary twice in an over and he hit a couple of sixes after that. Game-changing moments. As a batting group, we haven't produced. The total shouldn't have been that high in these conditions, and that plays on your mind when you're chasing and leads to some incorrect strokes. Mumbai are the benchmark in this competition, and we are a long way from matching them at the moment. Pragyan Ojha is bowling very well, it's nice to have Harris around the squad."
Tendulkar: "All credit to the players. The stand between Rayudu and Tiwary was most crucial, and later on some great hitting. They've done us proud and hope his continues till the finals. The ball was stopping a bit, and that's why Pollard bowled his full quota, he was fantastic. It's a great feeling to win seven games, and this is a game of uncertainties. We don't want to relax, we want to keep winning. It's been fantastic with the kind of support we've got here. However much I can thank the crowd it's not enough."
Rayudu is the Man of the Match.
Rayudu: "It was really good, and I'm happy that I contributed in a good way. I'm really happy to get a platform like the IPL. Last two games, I should have just waited and I'm learning from my mistakes. Wicketkeeping is tough, and today I did a good job. That's one area I'm under pressure, and I'm working hard on it."
That's all we have from here, folks. Thanks for tuning in and sending us your feedback. Tomorrow's another double-header, so join us then. Until then, on behalf of Raju from the scoring desk, this is Sid Talya signing off. Adios!
full toss on the off, steered to it point, Pollard returns a strong throw that is not backed up, a couple to the score
That's a rarity in Twenty20, a double-wicket maiden
on middle and off, defended watchfully to the bowler
flighted on middle, pushed to midwicket
Jaskaran and Ojha, the last pair
tries an identical shot but the doosra does him in, it turns away, he gets the leading edge and Rayudu, running to his right, snaps a well-judged catch
short on middle, gets some extra bounce as he tries to pull through midwicket, gets a thick edge in front of point
Rahul's gone, lands on middle, heaves it straight to Bravo at deep backward square leg, a hopeless situation for Deccan now
Harbhajan to bowl
slower one this time, flicked through square leg for a single
full and down the leg side, given a wide
full on middle, square-driven through point into the deep for a single
misses again, quick this time, makes room to swing that over the on-side, gets to Rayudu on the bounce and he does well to get his body behind it
deceived by the slower one, fullish and moves away as he makes way to play that through the off side, misses
full on the off, driven straight to mid-off where Harbhajan picks and aims accurately but the batsman is back in time
full on middle, almost a yorker, pushed past midwicket for a single
Malinga comes back
short and that's dismissed with utter contempt, shovelled between deep square leg and deep midwicket for a boundary
makes room and the bowler chases him, defended back to the McLaren
Rahul Sharma, the new man in
low full toss on the off, pushed wide of extra cover for a single
stylish flick but straight in the hands of Dhawan at deep square leg, fullish on middle and leg and it's nicely picked up but he found the fielder
nicely struck, long time coming, fullish on the off, moves away and blasts it through extra cover for a boundary
