They may be neighbours, but when the BET Under-15 final bowls
off at the BET Ground at 1 p.m. today Foundation and Deighton
Griffith will battle each other fiercely.
Both teams are confident of raising the Cup for the first time
and will be banking heavily on their bowlers to do the trick in
what is being billed as a 'Christ Church Derby'.
"The lads are confident of pulling off a win," said Foundation
coach Dennis Osbourne. "We have a good all-round side and this
being our third final we would want to take this one."
Deighton Griffith, which opened its doors just seven years ago,
have been rewarded a final spot for the first time.
Captain Derick Bishop, the season's leading bowler, said his
side has what it took to topple Foundation. His left-arm spin
brought him 74 wickets in the preliminary round with leg-spinner
Kenroy Williams taking 64.
"Our spin twin is our main strength," the Barbados Under-15
player said. "We know what we have to do and our minds are
focused."
On paper, Foundation appears to have the better batting side
with captain Andre "Rocket" Walcott, the attacking Shane
Blenman, opener Ryan Wiggins and Dwayne Farrell, all having hit
half-centuries during the preliminary stage.
