The Chennai Superstars continued their winning streak in the tournament after comfortably beating the Royal Bengal Tigers by 18 runs in Hyderabad. Their batsmen disappointed, except for opener G Vignesh's 45-ball 75, but their bowlers took wickets at regular intervals in defending a modest 146. Medium-pacer R Sathish broke two crucial partnerships and conceded only 12 in his four overs. By the end of the 17th over, Bengal had lost seven wickets with only 100 on the board. Their tail-enders, Abu Nechim and Ali Hamid, added 28 but with only one six between the two of them, they had no hope of reaching the target.
The Mumbai Champs are yet to win a match after they lost to the Hyderabad Heroes by six wickets in Hyderabad. Half-centuries from openers Shib Paul and Robin Morris failed to spur Mumbai on, with 21 being the next highest score. KS Sahabuddin dismissed them in the same over and the run rate dropped drastically after that. D Vinay Kumar (66) gave Hyderabad a quick start with a 75-run stand with Shashank Nag after which Stuart Binny powered the chase with a 14-ball 25.
