Haider claims six as Singapore dismissed for 218

Afzaal Haider claimed six wickets as Hong Kong made a strong fight back on the second day of their FTCT match against Singapore.

Two late wickets saw Hong Kong slip to 51-3 from 23 overs at the close of the second day's play in the FTCT match against Singapore at the Kallang ground. Skipper Tim Smart was undefeated on 29 at the close.
Earlier in the day, play in the first session was interrupted by rain and only 6.2 overs were possible. Singapore went to lunch at 124-3, having added 17 runs to their overnight score without further loss. Buddhika Mendis was undefeated on 36 and Christopher Janick was on 24.
To make up for the lost time, play in the final session was extended by one hour and play on the third day will start half an hour earlier.
A strong fightback by Hong Kong in the middle session saw them reduce Singapore to 187-8 by tea. Afzaal Haider was again the chief destroyer for Hong Kong as he finished the session with six wickets to his name. Mendis could only add another 3 runs to his lunch time score before he became Haider's fourth victim and he was followed in the same over by Zaidi who was adjudged LBW before he had opened his account. Christopher Janick's patient innings, which had lasted 4 hours and 9 minutes, was ended when he was caught by Manoj Cheruparambil from the bowling of Haider with his score on 42. Singapore were eventually dismissed for 218 in 87.2 overs shortly after tea, attaining a first innings lead of 59 runs.
