Cricket Kenya, the new board formed from the remains of the old Kenyan Cricket Association, has secured its first major sponsorship with the announcement of a clothing and equipment deal with IHSAN Sports of Pakistan.
Under the contract, which runs through until June 2007, IHSAN will supply the Kenyan national teams at all levels, from the national XI through to the Under-13s, with all their kit and equipment. The company will also be exclusive suppliers of replica clothing and balls to CK.
The deal is a major breakthrough in attempts to re-establish cricket as a sponsorable commodity in Kenya. The old KCA was unable to attract any major sponsorship as it had become tarnished by public rows, player strikes and governance issues.
