Karachi, July 15: Pakistan captain Moin Khan became the first-ever cricketer to travel 100,000 miles or more while on national duty.
According to a Wisden Cricket Monthly press release, Moin travelled 104,707 while playing 11 out of Pakistan's 12 Tests and in all the 37 one-day internationals between June 30, 1999 and July 1, 2000.
The previous record was held by New Zealand skipper Stefan Fleming who travelled 91,306 miles in 1998. Ian Healy, the retired Australian wicket-keeper, travelled 72,948 miles in 1997 while Indian Rahul Dravid travelled 65,146 miles in 1999.
Interestingly, the Pakistan cricket team had travelled 80,061 miles by the end of Sri Lankan tour. But Moin reached six figures when he took a round trip from the West Indies to Dhaka (19,414 miles) for the Asia vs Rest of the World. He also made four round trips from Karachi to Lahore (654 miles) to appear in Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum investigations and training camps (three).
