Mahinda hold Maliyadeva to a tame draw
Mahinda College, Galle, held Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala to a
tame draw in a tall scoring Coca Cola Bottler's trophy schools
under-19 cricket tournament match played at Kurunegala.
For the Mahindians H. Dharshana 66 (8 fours), R. P. Kumara 67
not out (10 fours) and for the Devans A. Basnayake 50 (6 fours),
A. C. B. Samarakoon 53 (9 fours) and G. Dissanayke 55 (11 fours)
scored half centuries.
Mahinda's medium pacer Thushara Rupasinghe bowled well to
capture 7 for 111.
Mahinda College 227 for 8 wickets in 71.2 overs (H. Dharshana
66, R. P. Kumara 67 not out, G. Samarawickrema 4 for 32, G.
Kahatapitigama 2 for 30) AND 73 for 4 in 15.2 overs (H.

Roshan Perera reaches 500 run mark

Kingswoodian Roshan Perera became the first schoolboy from the
hill capital to reach the 500 run mark when he scored 83 (11
fours, 1 six,) in their Coca Cola bottlers trophy schools
cricket tournament match against Ananda College which ended in a
draw at Ananda Mawatha, Colombo recently.
Kingswood College 229 all out in 73.2 overs (Roshan Perera 83,
Omila Weerasuriya 43, C. Senavirante 23, C.Amunupura 25, T.
Madanayake 19, L. Ekanayake 15, S. Rupasinghe 3 for 46, T.
Perera 3 for 40) and 152 all out in 43 overs (Chamara
Senaviratne 60, C. Weerasuriya 23, C. Amunupura 22, M.

Dharmaraja - six-a-side champs in Kandy
Dharmaraja College, Kandy, became champions at the Kandy schools
six-a-side cricket tournament organised by the Kandy District
Sports Foundation in connection with the Golden Jubilee
Celebrations of Independence when they beat Trinity College by
just one run in a thriller with the wicket keepers bowling the
deciding over in the finals played at the Asgiriya Stadium.
