Julian Hunte's new job a problem for WICB

The West Indies Cricket Board has a minor problem on its hands, and
except good sense prevails on the part of one its members, it may have
to turn to its constitution to solve it.
Sitting vice-president Julian Hunte was recently appointed St.
Lucia's Ambassador to the United Nations in New York, and according
to information reaching the Gleaner, the long-serving member of the
Windward Islands Cricket Association and the WICB wants to maintain
the position and intends to do so.
The constitution of the WICB stipulates, however, that Board members,
like selectors, must reside in the West Indies.
The consensus of Board members around the region is that the
vice-president is the chairman of the development committee, it is an
important job, and that Hunte, despite his service over the years,
should resign and allow the Board to elect or appoint a new
vice-president.
If Hunte fails to resign, it is likely that a motion calling for his
resignation will be tabled at a Board meeting in Antigua later this
month and that it will be accepted.
Hunte was returned as vice-president.
