Scorecard
A double hundred from Abhinav Mukund and a century by Tanmay Srivastava guided India Under-19s to 491 for 3 declared on the first day of the second Test at Kandy. Sri Lanka had reached 11 for 0 in their reply by the close.
On a grassless pitch India won the toss and batted, and Sri Lanka's only success in the first two sessions came when Shreevats Goswami was bowled for 29. There followed a run spree as Mukund and Srivastava cut loose, adding 263 in under 55 overs before Srivastava was dismissed. He reached his fifty in 63 balls and his hundred in 143 balls and in all batted for 152 balls hitting 13 fours.
That wicket did not stem the flow as Mukund and Virat Kohli added 100 for the third wicket before Mukund was run out for 205. He faced 242 balls and hit 24 fours and one six.
With the bowlers wilting, Kohli and Saurav Tiwary smashed an unbeaten 74 for the fourth wicket, their fifty partnership coming off 18 balls. Kohli reached his fifty off 32 balls and was stranded on 94 from 51 balls when the declaration came.
