flicked off the pads behind square for a single, Deccan has slaughtered Mumbai to record their first win and thanks primarily to Adam Gilchrist
MI vs Chargers, 14th match at Navi Mumbai, IPL, Apr 27 2008 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Chargers won by 10 wickets (with 48 balls remaining)
Will Gilchrist try and win it with his 11th six?
Well there's not much you can do when you come up against Adam Gilchrist in such a mood. England found out during the 2006-07 Ashes when he hit Test cricket's second fastest century at Perth, Sri Lanka found out during the World cup final when Gilchrist blazed the highest score in a World Cup final and now Mumbai have borne the brunt of his amazing stroke play.
"What a knock from Gilly! I don't see any of the senior Indian icons like Ganguly, Dravid or Laxman scoring a quick fire hundred in a T20 match," says Rahul. "Also, has anybody thought of choosing captains based on merit."
Gilchrist's hundred has given Deccan Chargers their first win of the IPL, in their fourth game. They've won by ten wickets and with 44 balls remaining which is a stunning margin. They may have lost the first three games but there are ten more to go and with Gilchrist and Afridi in the ranks they can never be written off.
Mumbai, on the other hand, will await the result of Harbhajan's hearing tomorrow and will be desperate for Tendulkar to regain his fitness. There's no question of who the Man of the Match is: Adam Gilchrist and he also wins the cash award for most sixes. He hit ten today.
Well I was hoping for a close contest but Gilchrist ensured that it was anything but. The innings was spectacular though and the hitting was as clean as you'll see. Do catch the highlights if you haven't been able to watch it. That's it from us at Cricinfo today, thank you for your emails. This is George Binoy signing off. I'll see you all soon. Cheers.
