Scorecard and ball-by-ball details
A century from Martin Guptill, and a five-wicket haul from Adam Milne were the cornerstones behind New Zealand A's 111-run victory against Ireland in Dubai. New Zealand A, opting to bat, began brightly, as Guptill and Dean Brownlie added 138 for the opening wicket. Brownlie fell for a 62-ball 66 in the 20th over, but Guptill carried on, hitting 129 and adding a further 57 runs for the second wicket, with Anton Devcich. A number of quick blows from Peter Chase (3 for 38) and Stuart Thompson (3 for 47) reduced New Zealand A to 265 for 7, but Nathan McCullum (31) and Kyle Mills (36) counterattacked by adding 66 runs from just 34 balls to lift the score to 337.
Ireland produced two big partnerships in the chase: 81 for the third wicket between William Porterfield (63) and Andy Balbirnie, and 73 for the sixth between Gary Wilson (41) and John Mooney (49*). However, their progress was hampered by wickets at regular intervals, and once Wilson fell, Ireland folded and were bowled out for 226 inside 41 overs. Milne ran through the tail to collect 5 for 33, including three wickets in the 37th over, while Mitchell McClenaghan chipped in with 3 for 37.
