Six points to requirement for OT & Romsey

Old Tauntonians & Romsey require a maximum six points from tomorrow's visit to relegation-threatened Gosport Borough to clinch the Southern Electric Premier League, Division 2 championship.

That's assuming second-placed St Cross Symondians, whom they beat last week, don't take a 22-point maximum from their game with United Services at the Royal Green Jackets ground, Winchester.

Both matches have championship and relegation significance as US currently lie in a relegation position, three points behind Gosport.

Sparsholt, whose win at relegated Purbrook last week relieved their immediate concerns, will be taking a keen eye on the progress of the respective games.

"We're not safe by any stretch of imagination and need a positive performance against Burridge to make sure we don't get dragged back into it at the last minute," stressed skipper Ian Stuart.

There's precious little scope for error at the bottom, with only six points separating Sparsholt from United Services.

Easton & Martyr Worthy should clinch third place with a home win against Purbrook, but any slip could let in Lymington, who host Hursley Park at the Sports Ground.
