India 213 for 7 (Suryakumar 58, Pant 49, Jaiswal 40, Pathirana 4-40) beat Sri Lanka 170 (Nissanka 79, Mendis 45, Parag 3-5, Arshdeep 2-24, Axar 2-38) by 43 runs
India's new T20I era under Suryakumar Yadav began on a winning note, even if it was jittery at various points in their defence of a big score. A spirited Sri Lankan batting unit, spearheaded by Pathum Nissanka and his free-stroking 79 left an Indian team playing with just five bowling options hanging onto crumbs of hope. One of them was scoreboard pressure. Sri Lanka had nine wickets in hand but they still needed 74 off 36.
Nissanka, reprieved a ball earlier by Ravi Bishnoi at deep midwicket, fell to Axar Patel to open the floodgates. India converted that opening into a double-strike when Kusal Perera fell four balls later. It would be the start of a sensational meltdown; Sri Lanka losing 9 for 30 in all to concede a game they would've backed themselves to win.

Ireland, Zimbabwe go toe to toe on error-strewn day

Zimbabwe 210 and 12 for 0 (Gumbie 7*, Masvaure 4*) trail Ireland 250 (Moor 79, McBrine 28, Chivanga 3-39, Muzarabani 3-53) by 28 runs
Peter Moor dominated against Zimbabwe, his former team and country of birth, to post the highest Test score by an Ireland opener. The hosts, like the visitors on day one, then collapsed in the afternoon to squander the advantage after they brought the deficit under 100 with eight wickets in hand. But an unlikely tenth-wicket partnership of 47 between Andy McBrine and debutant Matthew Humphreys gave them a useful 40-run lead after two completed innings in Belfast.
Zimbabwe's erratic bowling, along with their fielding behind the stumps, was a major factor in Ireland taking the lead. Zimbabwe leaked 59 runs in extras - of which 42 came in byes - the most in the 137-year history of Test cricket. However, Tanaka Chivanga's (3 for 39) and Blessing Muzarabani's (3 for 53) exploits ensured Ireland didn't run away with the bat.

Ben Slater, Haseeb Hameed centuries pound Sussex in eight-wicket win

Nottinghamshire romp to victory with 50 balls to spare to atone for opening loss

Nottinghamshire 217 for 2 (Slater 107*, Hameed 101*) beat Sussex 216 (Hudson-Prentice 90, Fletcher 3-35, Pettman 3-44) by eight wickets
Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed made unbeaten centuries as Nottinghamshire Outlaws bounced back from defeat at Leicester in their opening match with a eight-wicket victory over Sussex Sharks in their Metro Bank One-Day Cup match at the picturesque home of Welbeck Cricket Club in the north of the county.
Opener Slater, who averages more than 53 in the List A format, again demonstrated his penchant for 50-over cricket by scoring 107 with Outlaws skipper Hameed making 101 not out as they shared a county List A third-wicket record partnership of 209 to inflict a heavy opening-match defeat on their Group B opponents, who managed only one win in the competition last season.

Athapaththu, Sanjeewani help SL beat Pakistan in last over-thriller

Sadia Iqbal's 4 for 16 goes in vain; Sri Lanka to face India in a repeat of last edition's final

Sri Lanka 141 for 7 (Athapaththu 63, Sanjeewani 24*, Iqbal 4-16) beat Pakistan 140 for 4 (Muneeba 37, Feroza 25, Prabodhani 2-23, Dilhari 2-30) by three wickets
Chamari Athapaththu's fighting 63 off 48 balls and Anushka Sanjeewani's unbeaten 24 off 22 helped Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by three wickets in a last-over thriller in the second semi-final of Women's Asia Cup 2024. The win saw Sri Lanka march into the final for the second successive edition.
Two years ago in Sylhet, they held their nerve with the ball to overcome Pakistan by one run in the semi-final. Once again, Sri Lanka will meet India in the title clash.

India 83 for 0 (Mandhana 55*, Shafali 26*) beat Bangladesh 80 for 8 (Renuka 3-10, Radha 3-14, Deepti 1-14) by 10 wickets
As far as wins go, it couldn't have got more dominant than this. Bangladesh's attempt to inflict scoreboard pressure fell flat, with Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav picking up six wickets between them to ensure India had a small target to chase. Their in-form openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma then got the job done themselves, with nine overs to spare. On Sunday, India will have a chance to clinch an incredible eighth Women's Asia Cup crown (across white-ball formats), when they meet the winner of Sri Lanka vs Pakistan which will be played at the same venue later today.
