and that's it, another full toss and Cook gets down to sweep the ball to the boundary.
Bangladesh vs England, 2nd Test at Dhaka, Mar 20 2010 - Ball by Ball Commentary
With that shot, Cook seals a nine-wicket win for England, as well as a 100% success record on the tour. A tired-looking Bangladesh side trudge off the field and are met at the boundary by the England squad, shaking hands to bring an end to a tour in which Bangladesh have displayed moments and sessions of brilliance, but which England never allowed to slip out of their grasp.
Apart from the final session, Bangladesh have generally looked to be positive, to their credit, and with less to lose they were often much more willing to take risks to try and force the game out of England's hands. They've not had the best of luck, with a few freakish dismissals and the odd umpiring mistake, but they haven't backed down by any means in this series, and although England have won every game of the tour the hosts have made them work hard for every win.
That'll be all from your commentary team for this series - Andrew McGlashan, Sahil Dutta and Liam Brickhill - thanks for joining us and farewell, until next time. Sahil's final bulletin of the series is up, so be sure to check that out as it's a lyrical and emotive piece of cricket literature. Thanks for all the feedback, it's been tremendous for the whole five days of this Test, and has brightened up some very early, dark and chilly starts in the Cricinfo office.
Tamim Iqbal receives the award for most valued Bangladeshi player of the series, Shakib al Hasan gets the award for Man of the Match for his scores of 49 and 96, and his four wickets. Graeme Swann gets Man of the Series for his 16 wickets.
real loopy floater dished up, Cook taps it softly to point
eased down behind square on the leg side for one
plants the front foot down the track and sends the ball sailing back over the bowler, bouncing just inside the rope
full toss from around the wicket, whipped powerfully away to deep midwicket
Shakib continues to tweak the field every now and then, but this match is grinding to a conclusion
low, dipping full toss is hammered out to wide long on
tapped to the close midwicket fielder
very full, Pietersen walks forward and hammers a drive straight to mid on
pushed hard back to the bowler off the back foot
just erring in line, slipping down leg and allowing Cook to nudge into the gap
Cook's not giving anything away as the ball is floated up on middle and he stretches out to defend
fired at the pads and it's worked away for one behind square
Just 16 more needed
very wide of off stump, Cook slashes down hard on the ball to slot it through the covers and bring up his 12th Test hundred. Off comes the helmet, and he's acknowledging the applause from his team-mates and the England supporters around the ground.
full on a leg stump line, Cook shuffles across and works to leg
tossed up invitingly, but Cook dead-bats it back down the pitch
another full toss, but hit to square leg this time
almost, but not quite. A low full toss is swished onto the leg side, but a diving midwicket cuts it off
Cook on 99...
the field has come in much tighter, but it's not stemming the flow of runs as Cook shovels to leg for a couple
whipped out to deep square leg, Cook moves to 97 and keeps the strike
after the boundary comes solid defence, as Cook is drawn forward and meets the ball with the straightest of bats
