short and wide and lashed through point, that's beating the fielder, wins it with a boundary - Sammy finishes with 30 off nine balls, a blistering knock to give his side a five-wicket win, sealing the series with one to play
West Indies vs England, 2nd T20I at Bridgetown, Mar 11 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
West Indies won by 5 wickets (with 7 balls remaining)
6.15pm: We're done for the day, I'll leave you with David Hopps' report to read before bedtime. I have a flight to catch in the morning, next time you hear from me it will be from Chittagong... Gnasher will be back with you for the third T20 on Thursday. Cheers for your comments, take it easy now. Bye!
6.05pm: Here's England captain Eoin Morgan: "Think we were about 15-20 short. Starting at 30 for 3 wasn't an ideal start and we had to work on a balance between trying to score runs and not lose wickets. I thought [Buttler and Hales] kept us in the game with a great effort, they showed a lot of fight and towards the end we were always in the game but we had to continue to take wickets. A win [in the third T20] would be good, building an upwards curve for the T20 World Cup."
Krishmar Santokie is named Man of the Match: "By watching the first game on the sidelines I saw the pitch was a bit up and down. What's worked for me over the years [in T20], I'm confident to do it and it went well today."
West Indies captain Darren Sammy: "Feels good, it's a while since we won a series. This is preparation for the T20 World Cup, we have one more game and we want to give the fans something to celebrate. [Santokie] took his opportunity, so it's good that all the guys are firing. More or less we focus on the first six and then the back end, we have Dwayne and Andre Russell, myself, so we can come and finish off. We have a few niggles, we want to win cricket games, so we'll come up with the right eleven."
5.55pm: So West Indies go 2-0, a flurry of blows from Sammy leaving England flat on the canvas. The tourists were a bit more competitive this time but the result is still the same - this was their fifth T20 defeat in a row. West Indies, meanwhile, look like they may be relocating their groove at just the right time, a week or so out from beginning their World T20 defence. If Gayle and Samuels don't get you, Sammy will... Presentations coming up shortly.
Just one hit will do it...
another straight six, this time an extraordinary muscle down the ground! Nothing wrong with the delivery, full and in the blockhole, Sammy just crunches it through long-on, the arms windmilling through a brutal stroke
bangs this in very short, Sammy pulls out of his shot as it flies through... and called wide, correctly, to Bresnan's annoyance
The asking rate is comfortable now... Morgan tinkers with the field
nailed it, six over long-off! Sammy has some stones on him, the captain knows he has to finish this off, he sits and waits for the yorker, it's not quite full enough and he rams it back into the baying crowd
full and straight, Bravo had walked across his stumps, clips straight to midwicket but they get one
pitched up and driven down the ground for one to long-off
Back in WI favour now... unless Bresnan can pull out another blinder
slower ball, out the back of the hand, waits and dabs it square from in front of off
Dernbach gets the yorker wrong, comes out as a low full toss and Sammy mullers it through deep midwicket, a flat six! The balance tips back West Indies' way
another well-directed full bunger, Bravo nearly loses a toe squeezing it to square leg
Dernbach slips in the yorker now, tailing on off stump, Sammy jams the bat down, single to short fine leg
swings wildly, haymaker across the line and gets a top-edged four to third man, which was unguarded. Took on the bouncer and it paid off
full, maybe a slower ball, lofted down the ground, bounces a few yard short of long-off
Jade Dernbach back on at the death... How's the ticker?
Two wickets and just six runs off the over... But Sammy and Bravo both know their way round a slog-shootout
pitched up outside off, punched down the ground to long-off
on the stumps, dropped short on the leg side, Bresnan scurries to collect in his follow through
bit of width and that's neatly played, flowing square drive from Bravo, nice way to get off the mark
length, towards leg stump, nudged away behind square to stem the bloodflow
Darren Sammy to face the hat-trick ball...
top-edged and caught by Hales at mid-on, Bresnan has two in two! Russell has buckled under the pressure, tried to blast this over midwicket, an ugly hack across the line, ballooned into the air and again well taken. The ex-pats in the crowd are making some noise now!
length ball, hits down the ground... but long-on runs to his left to take the catch! Hales it was, he held it well, Samuels looks disconsolate before trudging off. Wasn't full enough to get it off the middle, never had the distance
Tim Bresnan coming back on
Bopara finishes with 1 for 10 from his four overs... The asking rate is almost up to ten an over for West Indies, though they still have plenty of ammunition left in the clip
on the stumps, back of a length and nurdled to midwicket, where Bopara gives chase
length ball outside off, steered towards point
