Yorkshire lost three wickets before lunch, with a lead of 54 runs; the game is set up for an exciting conclusion.
Will Kendall and Shane Warne took their overnight partnership to 75 before the Aussie pulled Hoggard and was caught at mid-wicket. Kendall followed soon after with a top score of 73. Peter Hartley received a good ovation when he came into bat, but his innings lasted three balla, as he was last man out. The slender lead of eight was a bonus to the home side, having been 78 for 6.
Yorkshire's batsmen set about building a lead, but young Simon Widdup fell to Hartley, and the former Yorkshire bowler also dispensed with England's Michael Vaughan edging him to the wicket-keeper. With three balls to go before lunch Anthony McGrath pulled straight to Kendall off Udal.
Despite the rain clouds around, play continued throughout the morning, as this match lookes set to provide a fascinating finale to life at the county ground.
