Scorecard
Thami Tsolekile became the third century-maker of the innings as South Africa A built a remorseless 330-run first-innings lead over Bangladesh A. The tourists then knocked over Bangladesh A's top three batsmen to take control of the first 'Test' at Mirpur.
Starting the day unbeaten on 59, Tsolekile, who played the last of his three Tests over five years ago, helped himself to 11 fours and two sixes as he and Heino Kuhn extended their partnership to 283. Kuhn was eventually dismissed by Farhad Hossain nine short of a double hundred and Tsolekile soon followed for 140. Rather than declare South Africa A piled on the punishment, taking their total to 676 before finally relenting. There were barely any straws for the Bangladesh A bowlers to clutch on to but Faisal Hossain can at least boast a five-for, even if it did cost him 183 runs.
With the best part of half the day to bat Bangladesh A started in positive fashion. Shahriar Nafees and Shamsur Rahman were enjoying the placid conditions during a positive 93-run opening stand. But part-time bowler Dean Elgar struck to remove Shahriar, caught and bowled, having just made his fifty. Farhad then fell to Thandi Tshabalala for a duck and Elgar made it three wickets in three overs for South Africa A when he had Shamsur caught by Stiann van Zyl. Nazimuddin and Faisal Hossain stopped the rot with a controlled and undefeated 54-run stand that has given the home side a sliver of hope of preventing defeat on the final day.
