South Africa have rewritten history of Limited Overs International
cricket. Their 6-1 win over West Indies has now taken them to the top
of the table of LOI cricket. For the first time ever, West Indies have
been dislodged from the top position since the number of LOI matches
grew to a sizeable proportion. Thus, Hansie Cronje's team has taken
their team to a historic high.
West Indies have traditionally dominated both forms of international
cricket for so many years, and although their position at the top has
been challenged in recent years, they managed to retain the number one
position in LOI cricket until their last defeat which gave South
Africa the rubber 6-1.
The following table shows the positions of all teams in all the 1404
LOI matches played to date, ordered by the success percentage. As it
is the usual practice, abandoned matches have not been taken into
consideration for the purpose of calculating the success percentage.
