Michael Papps' 46-ball 65 powered Wellington into the final, enabling them to haul down their target of 125 with 23 balls remaining against Northern Districts in Hamilton. Papps struck six fours and three sixes and shared a 68-run second-wicket partnership with Stephen Murdoch as Wellington coasted to an eight-wicket win.
Sent in to bat, Northern Districts never really got into a groove, as five of their batsmen reached double figures with only Daryl Mitchell crossing 30. Mitchell top-scored with an unbeaten 31-ball 36, out of a score of 124 for 5. Offspinner Jeetan Patel was miserly, taking the new ball and finishing with figures of 4-0-14-1, while Grant Elliott picked up two wickets with his medium-pace.
