that will be it for the Windies, Pollard backs away and swings hard, mid on dives over the ball and West Indies have made it 3-2
That brings us to the end of the limited-overs leg of India's West Indies tour. The first Test match starts on Monday in Jamaica. Do join us then. Till then, on behalf of George Binoy, Sid Ravi and the entire Cricinfo team, this is Abhishek Purohit signing off. Cheers!
The players walk up to collect their medallions. Raina collects the series trophy which marks India's third series win in their previous four ODI series in the Caribbean
Suresh Raina: "Now that we have won the series it is important to enjoy the moment. I would say we were short by 25-30 runs. They bowled well in the end. I was looking good, I need to spend some time in the middle, I just can't go in and play big shots, will look to have a couple of sessions with the coach."
Rohit Sharma is the Man of the Series. Rohit: "Was important for me to get some runs, wanted to make this tour count, glad it came off well. I kept telling myself I had to stay in the middle as long as possible, wanted to take the game through to the end. Was very disappointed in the last two games, today I could have taken it to the 48th or 49th over, but it happens at times."
Darren Sammy: "Credit to all the bowlers who came back very well. looked like we would chase 300 at one stage. We all know what Bravo is capable of doing. It was a decision we had to take, Sarwan was cramping, thought it would be good for the team if a new batter came in. We have to start well in the future. The wicket looks like a good one and will suit us for the Test."
Andre Russell is Man of the Match for his four wickets. Russell: "We have been playing good cricket over the past two games. Being positive, get the ball in the right areas, was a good wicket to bowl on in the morning. One or two of the Indian batsmen are not accustomed to the short ball, so I tried to use it as a surprise weapon, but when I did, I put everything in it."
Hang on for the presentation
What a moment! Marlon Samuels runs straight to the waiting Chris Gayle among the crowd beyond the boundary, and high-fives. Gayle is smiling broadly, he is laughing, the drums are playing and the horns are blaring. Handshakes all around. Duncan Fletcher looks impassive, as always. Samuels is pumped up. Darren Sammy is all smiles. One win, it is a dead rubber, but this win matters for the Kingston crowd. Their day is made.
Sahil: "samuels running straight to gayle conveyed whole lot of things without saying any thing...." It didn't say anything, it shouted it out loud
Deemi: "I hope this WI win cures all those of its supporters (as indeed others around the globe) of their obsession with run-rate right from the start. That's what T20 has done. Even at the amateur level that I play at, I try to conserve wickets first. Samuels has also silenced his detractors."
Pollard tries to help a short ball over the keeper but cannot connect
scores are level now with a front foot drive wide of mid off, the horns are blaring
stays beside the line and chops it past point to third man for a single
Samuels gets another boundary, vinay has just fallen away here, making room again and slicing it standing feet wide apart, over short third man, almost home now
reaches out and thumps a widish ball but cannot beat a diving extra cover
clobber! this is silken murder, this is effortless carnage, stands motionless in the crease, shifts weight back and lifts a full toss with a swift and brutal swing way over deep midwicket
slower one, he goes hard at it again but manages only the single down to long off
West Indies doing it in boundaries, Samuels throws his bat at a length ball outside off. thick edge flies past a diving third man
crash! Vinay runs in and bowls a length ball and disappears in to the sightscreen, Samuels makes room and lofts him as straight as possible, bounces just inside the rope
kumar: "India haven't batted their full quota of overs. That could well be the difference."
well forward in defence to smother the last ball of the Powerplay, brought Windies 57 runs, India managed 33
gets outside the line of this one to earn a wide down leg
length ball, does not get up much, he makes room and gives it a big thump, scoots down the ground, long on puts in the dive, to no avail
tossed up slowly through the air, and goes straight on as Pollard pushes forward uncertainly
bowls it way down the pads and he happily flicks it in front of square leg
flat delivery on the pads and he can't get it past midwicket
pulls away one turning on leg stump and picks up a couple backward of square leg
Ashwin to bowl the last over of the Powerplay, its already cost India 49
turns away even as he pushes forward to guide it towards point
that will be four, it is going downhill fine down the leg side, Mishra tosses it up down Pollard's pads who flicks it fine past short fine leg
the wrong 'un, the shortish length lured Pollard in to going for the big pull, it turned in to take an inside edge and go behind the wicket
