Game over it is! Big heave and Buttler whips the bails off with ease as Lister fails to reclaim his ground. England win by a mammoth 181 runs! The margin one shy of Ben Stokes' monster total which set this all up. New Zealand were never really in it - their high coming much earlier when Trent Boult reduced England were 13 for 2 in the third over - thanks to a brilliant start from Chris Woakes with 3 for 31 from his eight overs, all deliveries up top. Word to Livingstone, too, who finishes with a strong 3 for 16. England 2-1 up in the series ahead of the final match at Lord's on Friday
England vs New Zealand, 3rd ODI at London, ENG v NZ, Sep 13 2023 - Match Result
Ben Stokes's 182 is the highest individual score in ODIs (for ENG), surpassing Jason Roy's 180
Trent Boult has taken the most five-wicket hauls (6) in ODIs for NZ, going past Hadlee's record
8:09pm: Right folks, that's all from tonight and this side of London. Join us north of the River Thames on Friday for the fourth and final match of this peculiar series. So long!
8:04pm: Here's Ben Stokes, player of the match for his 182 from 124, taking the highest ODI score off Jason Roy (180 v Australia, 2018): "Coming back into the team after a while out, it's nice to come back and help the team. I apologised to him (Roy) upstairs. It's a good wicket. I think the conditions did actually change once the lights came on. We spoke about putting NZ under pressure, especially up top.
"As the experienced players, you want to be showing the guys to go out there and do that. Sometimes it doesn't always happen. Today we wanted to put more and more on them. Boulty was good with the new ball but you want to put good bowlers off their line."
On Dawid Malan, who scored 96 and shared in the stand of 199 for the third wicket: "Mala is a very consistent player. He's a quality player and he comes in and everyone knows what he's about. I enjoyed batting with him. Not only did we take the boundaries but we managed to rotate the strike as well. We got a good thing going. Rather than get in there and let it peter out, we tried to put them under the pump as much as possible."
On his knee, which saw him off the field at the start of New Zealand's chase: "I just needed a little bit of treatment. Test matches are longer, but you get a break. One-day games you don't get that! It's just different but these first three games have been good. It's getting better and better."
Game over? Check for a caught behind and/or stumping here, given not out originally...
Cut high... but just short of Atkinson, who puts in a good dive but is unable to get under the ball at gully
Sharper, into the pads, squirted back to the bowler
Flight, tempts Ferguson to heave but he gets a leading edge along the ground to Livingstone
Skidding into middle from a length, cut off the back foot to point
Ferguson goes to advance, Livingstone fires it in, forcing the No.9 to hop back and defend
Up and over by Lister, standing tall into the shot. No timing, though, meaning Moeen can trot bat and pick the ball up after it plugs about 10 yards from the boundary
Into the body, Lister cramped for room and ends up edging onto himself
Pace off again, into off stump, flailed to mid off with no real malice
Full, pace off, does Ferguson but he's able to fashion a leg bye towards square leg
Around the wicket, short outside off, nicely guided down to third
Full, into the stumps, bunted back to the bowler
Short, turning wide of off stump, hacked into the ground by Ferguson
Squirted out in front of point
There's the Boult we know and love! Flighted tempter outside off, Boult goes for a heave to leg with his balance all askew, skying high to cover where Moeen Ali takes a smart catch running back
Flatter, short, Boult watches and opens the face into point, offering a "no run there"
Worked behind square on the leg side
Straighter, slower, defended back down the ground
Down the leg side. Bowl it again, Livi
"Oh no!" exclaims Boult, as one rears up and threatens to hit the money-maker (his top hand), fending down into the pitch
