NEW DELHI, Feb 4: The playing conditions of the Asian Test
Championship were in final stages and are expected to be released to
the media on Friday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive
Majid Khan said on Thursday.
Majid, here for the technical committee meeting, said the playing
conditions have almost been finalized.
"A couple of issues have to be discussed and I think all will be
completed on Friday," he said.
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar and Sri Lankan Asantha De Mel
are also members of the committee. Interestingly, International
Cricket Council (ICC) president Jaghmohan Dalmiya is also attending
the committee meetings.
"Not only he is the ICC president, he also heads the Calcutta
Division Cricket Association. Not many issues (in India) are
finalized before seeking his approval," sources remarked.
About the expected playing conditions, sources said there would be
five points for first innings and 12 points for an outright win. In
addition to this, there will be batting points as well. There will be
one point for 150 runs and an additional point would be awarded for
every 50 runs scored after the initial 150.
Similarly, there will be bowling points and it was expected that
there will be a point for three wickets, two for seven wickets and
three for all 10 wickets.
"The evaluation system to be followed in the Asian Test Championship
will be applied in the World Test Championship. So we have to be very
careful," ICC president Jaghmohan Dalmiya had told Dawn last week at
Chennai.
