National Youth Cricket - Jessore enter zonal semis

Jessore moved into the semifinals of the Jhenidah zonal qualifying round of the Gazi Tank 18th national youth cricket championships with a 31-run win over Kushtia at the Jhenidah Stadium yesterday. The other two zonal matches scheduled in Mymensingh and Madaripur, were washed out.

Opting to bat, Jessore managed 126 before they were all out in 27.1 overs with Tushar hammering a workman-like 50.

Babu of Kushtia emerged as the day's most successful bowler with five for 36.

In reply, Kushtia were bundled out for a meagre 96 in 28.1 overs. Jessore's Nipun, the wrecker-in-chief, finished with three for 17 while Kawshik and Wahid took two wickets each.

In today's semifinal at the same venue, Jessore will take on Rajbari.
