Greg Chappell, the former Australian captain, has arrived in India to start his tenure as the new coach of the national side. On Wednesday night, Chappell landed in Bangalore - where he and his wife Judy will be based, and he reiterated his 'Commitment to Excellence' on his arrival.
Chappell landed from Mumbai and, though looking exhausted after a long flight from Australia via Singapore and Mumbai, he spoke to the media on his plans for the future. "We will start work tomorrow, gently," he said. "I have been working on a lot of things, nothing of which can be talked about here. In my presentation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India, I had stressed on the 'Commitment to Excellence' and hope to work towards achieving that."
Chappell added that he wasn't in a position to "control expectations" and would "work best towards meeting them". He was also glad that Sourav Ganguly, the Indian captain, had got back his groove while playing for Glamorgan in the English County Championship. "I hope he continues his form," he said when asked about Ganguly's century last week.
