Fantasy suggestions for the CPL 2020 game between Jamaica Tallawahs v St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

Jamaica Tallawahs v St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Port of Spain

Our XI: Evin Lewis, Glenn Phillips, Ben Dunk, Asif Ali, Andre Russell, Rovman Powell, Rayad Emrit, Imran Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sohail Tanvir
NOTE: We might not always be able to tip you off about late injury (or other relevant) updates, so do keep an eye out for the toss before making your final picks.
Captain: Mujeeb Ur Rahman
With 12 wickets in five matches, Mujeeb is the leading wicket-taker so far in the 2020 CPL. Bowling mostly in the powerplay, the Afghan spinner picked up a three-wicket haul in each of the previous three games. And his 18 off ten balls including two sixes off Rashid Khan in the last game against Barbados Tridents makes him too good to ignore.
Vice-captain: Andre Russell
Another must-have. Russell is still some way off his best but he showed glimpses of it in the last two games, both against Guyana Amazon Warriors. While in the first, his 52 not out off 37 balls wasn't enough to pull off a win, he made sure to see Tallawahs home in the next with an unbeaten 23 off 20. Also, he picked up a wicket in each of those games.
Hot Picks
Evin Lewis: After showing signs of form, Lewis struck a swashbuckling 89 against the Barbados Tridents to give the Patriots their first win of the tournament. He failed to build upon that against St Lucia Zouks but that's bound to happen in this format and should deter you from having him in your XI.
Sandeep Lamichhane: Another Tallawahs' spinner who has been impressive. With five wickets in the last three games, Lamichhane has complemented Mujeeb well by not just picking up wickets in the middle overs but also controlling the scoring rate. His economy in the last three games has been a Test match-esque 3.00.
Imran Khan: With the ball gripping and turning on the Caribbean pitches, it's better to pack your side with as many spinners as possible. Playing only his second game of the season, Imran impressed with 3 for 23 against Zouks even though his side couldn't defend a low total.
Value picks
Ben Dunk: The slowness of the pitches has caused problems for many big-hitters but Dunk showed against Zouks that he was ready to grind it out too if need be. Coming in at 11 for 4, which soon became 38 for 5, Dunk helped the Patriots cross 100 with a 37-ball 33. A match before that, he had hit two last-over sixes to seal the win against Tridents.
Rayad Emrit: Emrit didn't look too pleased with the pitch after the Zouks game but he was the only seamer in the match to not go for too many runs. While he didn't get a wicket, Emrit used his offcutters well and conceded only 14 from his three overs. The rest of the seamers in the match went for 59 from their combined five overs.
Point to note
  • This is the second match of the day. So the early moisture in the surface may dry off by then.
