Nair joins Sehwag in India's 300 club

1 Number of India batsmen to make a triple-hundred in Tests before Karun Nair. Virender Sehwag got two triple-hundreds: 319 against South Africa in Chennai in 2007-08 and 309 against Pakistan in Multan in 2003-04.

2 Number of batsmen to have converted their first Test century into a triple ton maiden Test hundred before Nair. Garry Sobers made 365* against Pakistan at Kingston in 1957-58 and Bob Simpson had made 311 against England at Old Trafford in the 1964 Ashes series.

2 Number of Test batsmen who have made a bigger score than Nair, batting at No. 5 or lower. Michael Clarke's 329 not out against India at the SCG in 2011-12 and Don Bradman had made 304 in Leeds in the 1934 Ashes. Brendon McCullum is the only other batsman with a triple-hundred batting at No. 5 or lower in Tests.

232 Runs made by Nair on the fourth day of the Chennai Test - the third-highest by an India batsman in a day's play in Tests. Virender Sehwag had made 284 in a day against Sri Lanka at the Brabourne Stadium in 2009-10 and 257 in Chennai against South Africa in 2007-08. Nair's 232 runs are the tenth highest by any batsman in a day's play in Tests.

3 Number of innings it has taken Nair to hit his first triple-hundred in Tests - the least by any batsman. The quickest batsman to a maiden triple-hundred before him was Len Hutton, who got to his maiden triple-century in nine innings. Don Bradman and John Edrich got theirs' in 13 innings.

5 Number of batsmen who have made a triple-century at a younger age than Nair, who was 25 years and ten days old at the start of the Chennai Test. 282 India's first innings lead in this match - the fifth-highest ever for a team after having conceded a total of 400 or more runs to the opposition. The highest ever such lead built also involved India. On that occasion though, India were on the receiving end when they conceded a mammoth 952 runs to Sri Lanka in Colombo after making 537 runs in their first innings.

380 Runs scored in the fourth day's play - the seventh-highest on any day and the highest on the fourth day of a Test in India. The previous-highest on the fourth day were the 369 runs scored in the Test between India and Pakistan at the Eden Gardens in 2004-05.
