Legislating to bring Australia back to the cricket pack? That's what John Buchanan, the Australian coach, fears may be on the cards from the powers that be in cricket.
"There may be some rule changes that have to be put in place to try and bring us back to the field," Buchanan said. "We have seen in the past, we can talk about Jardine and Bodyline, and we can talk about what Clive Lloyd and what the West Indies pace bowlers did and rules were put in place to bring them back to the field.
"We have got some great players, and we have got a great team and our job is to continue doing what we do best, to the best of our ability and then leave it up to the rule makers to suggest otherwise."
However, Buchanan hopes Australia can continue to set the trends in the game with their performances and success so that opponents would be in awe of them. He wasn't concerned that the world was picking up on what the Australians were doing through analysis and the reading of player diaries. He said he would like to see the Australians exposed more because if the opposition improved, then the Australians would also improve.
