* The Bangladesh Independence silver jubilee three-nation
tournament will start at Dhaka's National Stadium on January 10.
The three teams will play each other once and the top two teams
after the league stage will play in a best-of-three finals.
The organisers said that they have finalised all arrangements to
conduct the tournament on a grand scale. They said the
Bangladesh Cricket Board originally planned to get down the
World champions Sri Lanka but were unable due to their home
series against Zimbabwe. The match schedule: Jan.10: India v
Bangladesh in Dhaka Jan.11: India v Pakistan in Dhaka Jan.12:
Pakistan v Bangladesh in Dhaka Jan.14: 1st final in Dhaka
Jan.16: 2nd final in Dhaka Jan.18: Third final in Dhaka.
* New entrants to junior cricket Kadugannawa Central College
held Dharmaraja College 'B', Kandy, to a thrilling draw in their
Horlicks Trophy Schools under-13 division III cricket
tournament's second round match played at the Kegalle esplanade.
Kadugannawa Central scored 153 in 40.2 overs and at the close
Dharmaraja College 'B' were struggling at 136 for 7 in 39.4
overs when rain stopped play in a game which could have gone
either way. Chief scores: Kadugannawa Central 153 all out in
40.2 overs (D. Rajaratne 44, D. Karunatillake 27, P. Dharmadasa
23, R. Jayawardena 19, T. B. Chandratillake 4 for 35);
Dharmaraja College 'B' 136 for 7 in 39.4 overs (N. S. Wijetunga
31, T. B. Chandratillake 22, S. Siriwardena 3 for 31, M. Fausz 2
for 35).
* Sri Lanka vice captain Aravinda de Silva remained as the most
successful batsmen during the World champions three-match one
day international series against India which was ties one-all
with one game abandoned as a draw.
De Silva averages 86.00 with a match winning half century in the
last game but the highest aggregate (of 119 runs) was accounted
for by Roshan Mahanama who was adjudged man of the series. The
rest of the Lankan batsmen were off colour.
