Teams announce their final lineup
Six teams have sent their final players' list for the Wills
International Cup beginning at the Bangabandhu National Stadium from
October 24. Nine Test-playing nations are taking part in the knock-out
meet. Besides, another has sent its probable line-up while that of the
other two did not reach the BCB office till late last night.
According to a media release yesterday of the Bangladesh Cricket Board
(BCB), Australia, England, Zimbabwe, New Zealand, South Africa and
West Indies have sent their final team lists while India have sent a
20-man list of their probable team. World Champions Sri Lanka and
Pakistan are yet to announce their teams for the nine-day long
tournament.
The day-night spectacle starts with the only pre-quarterfinal of the
meet between New Zealand and Zimbabwe. On the second day, England will
meet South Africa in the first quarterfinal while World champions Sri
Lanka will meet the winners of the first match in the second
quarterfinal of October 26.
After a day of break for the official dinner, India will take on
Australia in the third quarterfinal on October 28 while the last
quarterfinal will be played between Pakistan and West Indies on the
next day. The semifinals will be played on October 30 and 31 followed
by the final on November 1.
