On a length and angled across off, fittingly ends the high-scoring affair with a lovely inside-out six over sweeper cover. Pretoria Capitals are out of the tournament. JSK and SEC are through to playoffs
MI Cape Town vs Capitals, 27th Match at Centurion, SA20, Jan 31 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Alright then, hope you enjoyed the run-fest! Until next time, this is Rvel Zahid signing off on behalf of Sudeep Poojar and everyone else at ESPNcricinfo. Goodnight!
Dewald Brevis, Player of the Match: Absolutely (happy) for us to have a few wins on the bounce and play beautiful cricket. I am so excited for the boys! We played so great as a team and it's even better off the field. I have been working really hard in the off time. It's quiet time where you graft the game and speak to the people who really care and most importantly enjoy the game and play with a smile and do whatever you can for the team. I'm playing the way I was playing when I was a little boy and got onto the scene. There was a time when I listened quite a bit when you try too many things and be too clever for the game but I'm just watching the ball now. It's always a special place with all the little kids, and people of Pretoria and the support of the fans was really great and it was great to get a W for the team
The gulf was big between the sides. MI Cape Town proved too strong on the day and kept the standards high in this run-fest. They'll move to the top of the log. Pure joy for the Rashid Khan-led side and disappointment for Pretoria Capitals, who tried their level best, but their campaign now comes to an end. Hope they'll come back stronger next year.
MI Cape Town won fairly comfortably in the end and the damage done by the batters earlier which gave that extra cushion to the bowlers. It's a fantastic venue and a great surface where you get value for your shots and we saw the ball flying to all nooks and corners tonight. Pretoria Capitals did control the run rate earlier but the task became progressively arduous with wickets falling quite regularly and Rashid's timely incisions changed the complexion of the game too
Prakash: "This is MICT's 6th win this season, that is equal to their combined wins in the previous two seasons."
Short and wide of off, follows it and toe-end a pull back to the bowler. Final delivery coming up
Close to the blockhole, fifth stump line, dragged down to long-on for a single
Rams the yorker, tailing away from off, toe-ended it towards short backward square
Sold him a dummy. Slower leg-cutter on a fuller length, he wanted to flog him over midwicket region and ended up getting a leading-edge that goes straight into the hands of the keeper
Around the wicket, full-toss outside off, that is a monstrous six way over deep square and sounded six the moment it connected to the sweet spot. Into the grass banks, nobody can catch that and the fans tumble over each other
Around the wicket, wide yorker, opens the face and steers it to deep third, job well-done by Bosch
Pitched up on off, takes the aerial route, fell short of Rashid at long-off. Cleared the front leg and mowed through the line
Shimmies down leg and gets a slower in-dipper on his pads, whipped in the air square of midwicket, gets back for the second
Slow-pace bumper on middle, slinks back, rotates his shoulders, gets on top of it, adjusts to the slowness really well and pulls it away to vacant long leg area
Over the wicket, yorker outside leg-stump and he'll have to reload this delivery
Cut away the yorker but finds point, only a single
Full-bunger outside off, throws his hands at it and the ball was traveling fast to deep third until a superb valiant effort changed the destined result
Oh, that's smart! Improvisation at its very best, got a full-one again outside off and inverses his stance to flick it past the keeper for a four. Always look great when these shots come off
Near yorker around the line off, opens the face and squirts it out to cover for a run
Effort full-toss way outside outside off, squeezed out to cover
Nabs two more. Full and skidding on from fifth stump, plays it in the V
Goes full again and he connects it to mid-on
Aiming for the wide yorker, close to the quite zone, slugged out to wide mid-off
Over the wicket, low full-toss looping away in the channel, casual waft at it and it's a soft dismissal, guided to point who gets low and swallows it down his waist. the deluge is getting suffocating
