cleaned im up off the last ball. Full and straight, Malinga backs away and misses and the T20 series is shared 1-1, WI win by 23 runs.
Sri Lanka vs West Indies, 2nd T20I at Colombo, Nov 11 2015 - Match Result
10.45pm So, WI have something to take home after a horror tour. They have won this last game and levelled the T20 series. They have defended a competitive score very well and efficiently with some persistent accuracy. The change in pace was very effective and despite a sprightly start, SL fell away in the second half of that innings. Dilshan displayed his experience with a terrific knock and anchored the chase well but no one else could find the boundary regularly enough as the hosts went down by 23 runs. Bravo claimed four wickets for 28 and along with some handy contributions ensured WI have something at the end.
Dwayne Bravo is the Man of the Match: "I want to say well played to the entire team. We wanted to plan well and execute. We have very good lower-order hitters. We were happy at the halfway stage. My role is to stabilise things from one end. It was not a 200 wicket. Once we bat first and bat properly, we have a very good bowling line up to defend. Sammy was good again, clear messages to the bowlers. We have batters who can chip in. Our fielding display was very good. We had a very good team meeting this morning.
Tillakaratne Dilshan is the Man of the Series: "I'm in great form, but unfortunately that shot did not go my way. I'm disappointed I didn't finish the game. It was a gettable target but the bowlers used the pitch really well. I'm enjoying every single ball, every single moment."
Lasith Malinga: "It was a good wicket, toss was important but we were looking forward to bowl. We got a good start from our batsmen. I'm happy with all departments. They could have got 180-190, but restricted them to 160.
Darren Sammy: "We had a good discussion in our team meeting and we played really well. It was good to see the team learn very fast. We have good memories here. The guys who batted said we should take pace off the ball. We were desperate to get this win. The World T20 is a long way and that was our last game. Guys play around the world so they have to take something from there."
back of a length down leg, DS charges and mis-times a pull to long-on
Chameera runs down the track and hoicks a length ball to midwicket
full toss on middle, smashed to deep midwicket
completely deceived. Slower delivery down leg, Malinga backs away and misses his slog. The ball sneaks past bat and pad
Harsha: "SL 45/8 WI all set for first win of the tour finally!"
nice shot. Fullish on middle, heaved off the front foot to long-on
All over by the shouting.
nyle: "it will be 10 down before my comment get published" -- Not quite
fuller than a good length on off. Pushed to long-on. Bravo finishes with 4 for 28
SL 9 down all of a sudden
and that will be another. Slower delivery outside off, Kulasekara looks to heave this over midwicket but the ball spoons up to third man off the outside edge
Anti-climax
Malinga backs away and miscues a pull to long-on
smashed to long-off. Still no boundary.
Spectators streaming out of the ground now
Pollard takes it. Relatively simple catch. Full on off, swiped away off the front foot to long-on where Pollard takes a sitter.
The task getting even harder
fast ball on middle at 132 ks, heaved away to square leg. Still no boundary
excellent spell from Narine. Full on middle, inside edge towards square leg
very close but the impact may have been outside off. Offspinner outside off, NK gets down to sweep but misses completely. Lots of deliberation but the decision is not out
shortish outside off, chopped to point
quick on off, defended towards the leg side and they decide to go for the quick single, Narine throws at the non-strikers end but misses
and there it is. Siriwardana has to go. Narine bowls a quicker delivery outside off, Siriwardana runs at Narine but goes straight past it. Ramdin does the rest in one motion. Is that the final nail in the coffin?
This is where Narine is most effective, when the batsmen have to score off him
carrom ball outside off, cut to point
Narine has one over left
slower delivery from very wide of the crease, somehow he beats the diving Pollard for a single to long-on
optimistic appeal but no harm in asking. Full on leg, pitched well outside leg too. Strikes MS on the pads
Senanayake but the bulk of the runs will have to be scored by Siriwaradana
