and that is that. Kamungozi comes and goes. Arafat finishes with four wickets, three in this over, all bowled. Again he made room to cut, again it was the arm ball, and this one takes off stump. Massive win for Bangladesh, this
Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe, 2nd ODI at Chattogram, Nov 23 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
8.20pm And that is it from all of us. We enjoyed bringing you this match, and we'll be back for the third ODI as well. Hope you join us for that, and keep sending in your comments. Until then, ta ta!
Joker: "Bangladesh bowling attack looks to be world-class on helpful (read slow-low-turning) conditions, toothless otherwise, while Zimbabwe attack is always mediocre. With both side's batting susceptible to adrenaline, Zimbabwe may still fare better in Australia in my opinion."
Gifer: "Must praise the super knock by Chigumbura, even for a while he did make us tensed. Especially because Shakib & Sunny both had only few overs to bowl, other bowler did not seems stable at the end. "
8.15pm Presentation time.
Mashrafe Mortaza, who is also the man of the match: "It was 100% professional. We didn't bat well in the end but the score was good enough. We started well with the ball and the spinners as usual bowled well. We lost our momentum after the opening stand but we still ended up with a good total. He [Shakib at No. 3] is one of the best batsmen, we want him to face as many overs as possible."
First up, it's Elton Chigumbura: "I thought towards the end of the innings we brought it back by taking those wickets and gave ourselves a good chance of chasing it. I was happy with the first half but the second half was disappointing, especially losing those three wickets in the first few overs. Happy for [Mire] that he scored his maiden fifty. He's a good young player. If we could have batted 50 overs, these two games we could have chased down these scores. Unfortunately we are still making the same mistakes."
RijvyBD: "It's always good to see Shakib performing ... it's even better to see BD wining without a massive contribution from Shakib :)"
8.07pm Zimbabwe were never really in it, right from the time they lost all those early wickets to Mashrafe. The seamers used the up-and-down pitch to their advantage with clever use of the slower ball, and Shakib and Arafat gave absolutely nothing away. Good knocks from Mire, Chakabva and Chigumbura, but at least one of them should have carried onto a more substantial score. Bangladesh take a 2-0 lead, and they simply look a far better side in these conditions.
looks to fire it in full, slides it down the leg side
and that's another. Made a lot of room to cut. Was too full for that and it went with the arm and smacked into the middle of leg and middle
length ball on off stump, pushed down to long-off
looks to sweep from outside off, gets an inside edge to short fine leg
bowled him! He's come down the track and it was the arm ball. He looked to defend and it sneaked through the gap between bat and pad and clattered into the stumps
full on off stump, blocked back to the bowler
back of a length outside off, straightens and bounces extra to beat the outside edge of his hesitant poke
shortish, rising up into the ribcage and he jumps to get on top of the bounce and works it away towards midwicket
short ball, and Panyangara ducks under it
fullish outside off and this time he frees his arms and launches it over cover. Sabbir runs back from mid-off to stop it near the boundary
short ball outside off and he's too early into the pull. Toe-ends it and it loops in the air but drops short of mid-off
Banglaman: "Interesting throw by Sabbir - it hit the top of the bail after bouncing. Don't think I ever saw that before." Yup. Only just clipped the leg bail.
back of a length on middle and off, goes on the back foot to defend
full again, blocked back to the bowler
dropped full on off stump, looks to drive to long-off and hits it uppishly. Arafat dives to his left but can't hold on.
back of a length outside off, and he punches it down to long-off for a single. Only his second scoring shot in 26 balls
goes for a sweep to the full ball on leg stump, is hit on the foot
back of a length on middle stump and he goes back and across to defend
bouncer to greet him, and he ducks under it, taking his eyes off the ball
Nyumbu is the new man.
