The see-saw battle at the top has begun. If the opening-day honours belonged to Ian Chappell, Sambit Bal has stolen a march over him on day two, thanks to Chris Gayle.
With the first game between New Zealand and Scotland being reduced to a seven-over affair, there weren't too many points from it for any of our league members. But the Australia-West Indies game proved to be the big points-scorer. Ian's trump, Brad Haddin, fetched him just 56, and he netted a total of 165 points from the game.
On the other hand, Gayle's match-winning performance fetched Sambit a whopping 210 and he got a further 45 from Suleiman Benn. Once again, in the India-Bangladesh game there weren't too may points on offer as the big performers, Yuvraj Sigh and Pragyan Ojha, didn't feature in any of the teams.
Meanwhile Sanjay Manjrekar moved to No. 3 courtesy 85 points from Gautam Gambhir, and he now holds a 158-points lead over No. 4-ranked David Lloyd, who had an off day as his picks failed to fire.
