Darren Lehmann hopes his injured hamstring will heal in time to play in the final Test at Mumbai, which starts on Wednesday (Nov 3). Lehmann is receiving intense physiotherapy on the injury, which he suffered taking a second run in the first innings at Nagpur on Tuesday, and said it felt "pretty good".
"I am improving all the time and I have not given up hope of being right for the fourth Test," Lehmann told news.com.au. "I am working with the physiotherapist Errol Alcott throughout the course of each day to see what I can do. It is obviously a minor setback, that's for sure."
There have been suggestions Lehmann might retire at the end of the series, since he volunteered his place to Michael Clarke after the first Test at Bangalore. But Lehmann said he was looking forward to playing more. "Hopefully it will be right in the fourth Test, but if not I will concentrate on getting myself right for the home summer."
The captain Ricky Ponting will return for the final Test of the series and, after Simon Katich's 99 yesterday, it is unlikely that Australia will risk Lehmann.
