After playing for Northern Districts since 1994, Scott Styris has decided to change camps and play for Auckland in the 2005-06 domestic season.
Explaining the decision, David Cooper, Northern Districts' chief executive, said: "He has moved to Auckland for personal reasons, is living near Eden Park and wants to make the most of using the facilities there as he tries to restore his position in the Black Caps." Styris has been a regular member of the New Zealand middle order over the last couple of years, but missed the last series, against Sri Lanka, due to a knee injury. He has since recovered and is currently playing county cricket for Middlesex.
The move will further strengthen an Auckland side already boosted by the transfer of Chris Martin, the right-arm fast bowler, who has moved from Canterbury.
