Kandy DCA play Jaffna today
By S. M. Jiffrey Abdeen - Kandy South group correspondent
Kandy District Cricket Association has picked a young side
comprising schoolboys to meet the visiting Jaffna District
Cricket Association in a limited over cricket match to be played
at the Asgiriya Stadium today.
Mahes Pallihakkara who captains the Antonians is likely to
captain the side. The last time a cricket team from Jaffna
played in the hill capital was over 25 years when St.
Sylvester's College played Jaffna Central, St. John's and
Hartley Colleges and they reciprocate these visits by making a
goodwill tour of the peninsula the following year and they play
these three schools. Trinity College also played one of the
Jaffna schools regularly. That was over 25 years ago.
Cricket loving public in the hill capital will give the visiting
cricketers from Jaffna a rousing welcome and will endeavour to
encourage them in every possible way and it is nice to have them
here again, says the Senior Vice President of the Kandy District
CA, Mr. Deva Amunugama.
Kandy District CA Youth XI will be selected from: Mahes
