Harper ponders return to champs
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph
Roger Harper celebrated his first-ever Lancashire League championship
and promplty left the door ajar on a possible return to Nelson in
1999.
The West Indian all-rounder, now in his ninth season in the League,
also revealed that if he did come back it would be to Seedhill.
After toasting Nelson's success following a narrow win at Church,
Harper said: "I am just savouring the moment for it is too early to
say whether I will be in a position to return.
"I am waiting a call from the West Indies Cricket Board to see what
they might have planned for me as regards touring and coaching with A
team.
"Until then the picture will be unclear, but if I do come back to
play league cricket in England I would love to do so at Nelson.
"I have been happy with my own contribution, although I would have
liked a few more runs, but it is the way the team has played that has
given me such great satisfaction.
"We have had our share of luck, every team needs that. But players
have risen to the challenge superbly when the crunch has come."
