West Indies coaches now up to scratch
The Barbados Nation
The training of West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) certified
coaches is now recognised as meeting the highest international
standards with the accreditation of WICB coaching certificates
by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The WICB has pursued this accreditation by the ECB for many
years up until the present because it is a benchmark for cricket
certification world-wide. Once a coaching certificate has been
recognised by the ECB, acceptance in other countries tends to
follow.
Stephen Camacho of the WICB said: "This is a significant
achievement for our trainers which is the result of
more emphasis being placed on the coaching programme with the
appointment of Reg Scarlett as the WICB's director of coaching
in mid 1997."
