A string of solid performances by his picks allowed Ian Chappell to wrest the top spot from Sambit Bal.
Sambit had AB de Villiers as trump for the first game between South Africa and Scotland, who fetched him a whopping 422 points. But Ian too had de Villiers, and also Graeme Smith (50) and Jacques Kallis - trump (136), which helped him negate Sambit's advantage to some extent. In the second game, between England and Pakistan, Ian's picks fetched him 244 - Luke Wright being the chief contributor with 181. Sambit had Ravi Bopara, Owais Shah and Shahid Afridi, who managed to fetch just 75, which meant he had to relinquish the top spot to Ian.
Sanjay Manjrekar is snapping at Sambit's heels, just 133 points behind, and David Lloyd continues to be at No. 4 with 574. "It's been a steady start for me so far," says Sanjay. "I've probably slipped up on a few trump picks, but I am still within striking distance of the top, which is good. A single-trump pick for all the games makes it more challenging. But it's still early days yet and we could be in for a lot of twists and turns."
