Hampshire Second XI are in danger of losing the opening match on the new ground, trailing Sussex by 29 runs with 6 wickets ramaining.
On a day blessed with sunshine, the wicket continued to play well as Sussex youngsters piled on their first innings runs. Centuries by Will House and Keith Greenfield gave the visitors a good lead of 131. Lee Savident finishing with 5 for 93.
Hampshire lost four wickets in the evening, two to Yardy and two to Taylor.
